Liverpool Round Table Squash Club -Thurs 25th Nov 2010

Another big thanks to Raoul for organising round two of LRT8 squash which was well attended by Dewi, Raoul, Mark, Andy Snell and myself. After some great matches of squash we decamped to the Fiveways for curry night!
Looking forward to the next instalment after Christmas – I hope Raoul eats plenty of mince pies to give the rest of a chance!! Please feel free to join us – we are all of different standards but with equally different levels of fitness (so even I can be competitive occasionally).

Peerless Brewery Tour Fri 19th Nov
by webmaster on Dec.02, 2010, under Social
Just a very quick message to say a big thanks to all who came to the Peerless Brewery on Friday night. A selection of beers, tweeds and moustaches made for a great evening with an impressive 40 or so on the night. Pleanty of banter with Heswall and HAWK round tables and another round of Killer darts added a bit of spicey competition.
Those of us with extended passes out went on for a drink in Oxton before calling it a night.
A huge thank you to James for organising the evening and obviously to Steve and Rose for putting on a superb night of excellent food and beer. God knows why I kept calling Steve, Mike, but at least I corrected myself by the end of the evening ahem..

Mike, Peter, Dave and Raoul met up at Hope Park Sports Centre, Childwall for a squash evening on 30.09.10. All games were with American scoring and Peter came away the outright winner, followed by Raoul, Mike and Dave in order. The strenuous evening was rounded off with beer and bar meals at the newly refurbished Childwall Fiveways hotel. The next squash evening is scheduled for Thursday 25 November with the same format as before. All members and guests are welcome.

Meet the Vice Chairman BBQ & Sports Day
by webmaster on Aug.21, 2010, under Social
The LRT8 Summer BBQ was held at Andrew Roberts’ new (but old) house in Parbold. Being a first time garden owner, the event saw the christening of a shiny new party-size BBQ, with Roberts favouring the danger of flaming charcoal over the convenience of gas.
The guests arrived, thanking Guy Dove for bringing the sun with him. There was a good show from the Liverpool lot, with many making the journey from overseas (well, the Wirral) to be there. Also present was Mark Howard, Area 8 chairman.
Once the burnt sausages and burgers had been eaten, the party adjourned to the back lawn for some fun and games, which took the form of a school sports day with the main event being the blind egg and spoon and sack and beanbag race. From memory, all competitors got disqualified for foul play / cheating and so the only official event of the day was the hands-free chocolate-doughnut eating competition.
It was obvious with hindsight that there would only ever be one winner – Will Barralet with his unfeasibly long tongue and wide mouth proved to the Usain Bolt of the hands-free chocolate-doughnut eating competition.
