Liverpool Round Table No 8 Charitable Trust
(Reg. Charity No. 505930)
Statement of Intent
1st September 2009
Liverpool Round Table has existed in excess of 80 years on the premise of the six Aims and Objects of the Round Table Movement:
- To develop the acquaintance of young men through the medium of their various occupations.
- To emphasise the fact that one’s calling offers an excellent medium of service to the community.
- To cultivate the highest ideals in business, professional and civic traditions.
- To recognise the worthiness of all legitimate occupations and to dignify each his own by precept and example.
- To further the establishment of peace and goodwill in international relationships.
- To further these objects by meetings, lectures, discussions and other activities.
While LRT8 members support all of these aims, aim (2) has traditionally had an important role in the activities organised and attended by LRT8 members. To that end, LRT8 registered the Liverpool Round Table No 8 Charitable Trust in 1976 (Reg. Charity No. 505930). This document outlines the statement of intent with regard to how LRT8 will engage in fundraising activities, disbursement of funds and support of charitable events.
Support for charitable events
LRT8 aims to support any charitable or other community event held within the Liverpool area through donation of time and effort. However, owing to the large number of events, support is prioritised according to the following principals.
- LRT8 seek maximum impact for their time commitments
- LRT8 aim to primarily support the people of Liverpool (funds raised for local charities or work directly with local people)
Fundraising activities
From time to time, LRT8 will undertake to raise funds through collections or the staging of an event or challenge. Beneficiaries for such events may be named prior to the event, or fundraising may be general with funds being paid into the LRT8 Charitable Trust account. Where a beneficiary is named before collection takes place, funds will be paid directly as soon as possible after the fundraising activity. Where charitable funds have been raised, and no beneficiary identified at the time of fundraising, funds will be distributed in response to requests or need as perceived by LRT8 members. Beneficiaries selected for fundraising activities and receipt of funds will be prioritised according to the following principals:
- LRT8 seek to achieve the maximum impact for individuals for any financial outlay
- LRT8 primarily aim to support the people of Liverpool
- LRT8 aim to give money directly to the people in need rather than via another charity organisation
Trustees
Trustees will normally be current members of LRT8. Upon leaving the organisation, members acting as trustee should arrange for their place to be taken by a current member.
