FAQs

Welcome to Liverpool Round Table No. 8

We’re not sure how you’ve come to be looking round our website, but welcome! We’ve tried to summarise what Liverpool Round table is all about below, but if you have any questions then please contact us.

What is Round Table?

Round Table is an international organisation founded over 80 years ago for young men to socialise, network and contribute to their community. The founder thought that clubs like Rotary were old fashioned and not forward thinking, so he founded the Round Table movement with a maximum age of 40 (now 45), therefore all the members of Round Table are under 45, and Liverpool numebr 8 currently has an average age of around 30.

What are the members of Liverpool Round Table like?

We have a wide range of members who live in in and around Liverpool as well as further afield in Wirral and Beyond. Most of our members work in Liverpool and come along to our lunchtime meetings in Liverpool City Centre. Many of our members are married, some have children and some are single and still looking! Our members are generally outgoing and enjoy good company and having fun. If you wonder what types of people the members are, they come from a wide range of backgrounds and have jobs in various sectors including academia, accountancy, business, finance, legal and property. We welcome anyone who wants to join and is prepared to make a commitment to supporting the club’s social and charitable activities. If you are interested in becoming a member, please look at our becoming a member page.

What does Liverpool Round Table do?

Liverpool Round Table meet at lunchtime every two weeks at the Artists Club in Liverpool city centre. These meetings are quite informal and generally involve a good chat over lunch. We always welcome new people to come along to these lunches (or any of our other events) and if you would like to join us, just get in touch.

Charity Events

One of the original aims of the Round Table movement is to contribute to the local community. LRT8 is no exception and we organise or support events and collections throughout the year. For more details on the sorts of charities that we support, click here. One recent event was our Three Peaks Challenge in 2008 and we also run a number of annual charity events, including our Christmas Hamper Collection and Christmas Cash Collections. You can read more about our recent charity events here.

Social Events

As well as charity, Round Table is about socialising and meeting new people. It’s an excellent opportunity to make new friends, especially if you are new to the area. We organise a range of events throughout the year, as well as attending events organised by other Round Tables across the country. For details of some recent events, look here and for some of the upcoming events that we are planning, look here.

Charter Nights

These celebrate the anniversary of a Table receiving their Charter of Incorporation – essentially their birthday. In most tables, this is celebrated each year with a formal dinner including a speaker – a Charter Dinner.

Liverpool Charter Night Dinners are usually black Tie events with a speaker. For more information on upcoming charter nights in the local area, visit our events calendar. As with all our other events, if you are interested in coming along, please email one of the committee.

How can i get involved?

We always welcome new people to any of our events, if you want to come to a lunch, or join us at any of our upcoming social or chariy events, simply contact us and we will do everything we can to make you feel welcome. If you want to know more about becoming a member, please look at our becoming a member page.
